Overview of Evidence Practices in ASD
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

When making decisions about autism treatments, is it important to
understand the research. However, there is so much information available
from a variety of sources, it can be difficult to make choices about
interventions for a specific individual. In recent years, several large
national projects have reviewed published research on treatments for
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). These projects have identified important
principles for treatment and specific “evidence-based practices”
(EBP) effective for core deficits of ASD. This training will explain the
National Professional Development Center on ASD and National Standards
Project identified EBPs, demonstrate how to select evidence-based
strategies to improve social -communication and behavior, and provide
tools for working more effectively with individuals with ASD.
Familiarity with the characteristics and core deficits of ASD is highly
recommended as a foundation for this training. The “Introduction to ASD”
training provides this recommended knowledge. 3.5 Continuing Education
Units (CEUs) are approved by the NM Counseling & Therapy Practice Board.
Also applies to (SLP, OT, PT). These CEUs are also valid for (NASW-NM)
BSW, MSW, DSW, or Ph.D. and Social Work will be provided at the end of
the training day.
