2016 Super Heroes of Autism
On November 5th at the Hyatt in Downtown Albuquerque over 200 people gathered to honor individuals, organizations and companies who are “champions in the autism community!” The night started with a silent auction and networking hour followed by a dinner and key note address by former Miss Montana and autism advocate Alexis Wineman. Just 6 days prior to Alexis presenting, she unexpectedly lost her biggest fan, her mother Kimberly Butterworth. Alexis amazed the audience with her story of perseverance and courage and inspired everyone with her message.
Melissa Salazar Photography captured the evening and the memories can be found HERE. The photos can be downloaded at no charge!
For the first time ever, the KHeaven Sent Award for Excellence in Secondary/post Secondary education was awarded to APS transition specialist, Mr. Robert Burnett. More information on the KHeaven Sent Scholarship can be found HERE! Applications are being accepted for the 2017-2018 school year.
The night ended with a dance with music provided by DJ Soiree! I think we can all agree that it was a wonderful evening!
The New Mexico Autism Society expresses the utmost gratitude to everyone who made the night one to remember! Congratulations again to all of the 2016 honorees!
